Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 21/07/2026

Ebates Performance Marketing, Inc. dba Rakuten Rewards (“Rakuten Rewards” “we”, “us”, “our”) operates and maintains the website at www.rakuten.co.uk, and any of our mobile websites, browser extensions and other applications or related services that specifically refer to this Cookie Policy (“Rakuten Services").

We, along with our third-party partners, use a variety of tracking technologies in relation to the Rakuten Services, including different types of cookies, for various purposes explained in more detail below, such as to operate and optimize the functionality of the Rakuten Services requested by you, to measure, analyze and improve site performance, and to measure and report on the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, For clarity, this policy will refer to all the tracking technologies we employ as “cookies”.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your device while interacting with a website, application or advertisement. It can be accessed or read thereafter to retrieve the limited information it stores, or it may set into motion other processes to cause your browser to collect or communicate information about your device or your behavior on the site. Cookies on Rakuten Services may be set directly by us, with their information accessible only by us (first-party cookies) or set by third parties with whom we partner, who may then access the cookie data (third-party cookies). Cookies can either be persistent (i.e., they remain on your computer for a configurable time or until you delete them) or temporary – known as “session” cookies – which last only until you close your browser. We and the third parties with whom we partner use both persistent and session cookies.

Purposes

We categorize and use cookies as described below.

Category	Description
Essential	These cookies are strictly necessary to provide you the Rakuten Services you have requested, including to calculate and pay you the Cashback or rewards you seek (meaning they are set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for our Cashback services, such as logging in to your account, beginning a shopping trip by clicking an offer link for a merchant site, activating use of a specific functionality, or filling in forms). This type of cookie is also necessary for our website to function, for setting your privacy preferences, for authentication, load balancing, and security. Essential cookies do not require prior consent and cannot be turned off. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but key parts of the Rakuten Services will not work if you do not allow Essential cookies.
Functional	These cookies enable optimal functionality of the Rakuten Services. Although they are not strictly necessary to access and use the Rakuten Services, they make the Rakuten Services operate more smoothly and provide you a better user experience. They may also be required for some videos on the Rakuten Services to load. For example, these cookies may detect the type of device from which you are accessing the Rakuten Services (for example, a mobile browser versus a desktop browser) so that images and content display in the optimal places. They are also used to monitor where you are on a page so videos and other content can initiate and surface optimally. If you do not allow Functional cookies, the Rakuten Services may not function optimally.
Performance	These cookies allow us to measure usage and improve the performance of the Rakuten Service. For example, they are used to assess the amount and source of traffic on the Services and to provide analytics to assess and improve merchant or product search capabilities for users on the site. We may also use these cookies to test features and collect data to determine what types of new functionality to develop or merchants to include in the Rakuten Services. If you do not allow Performance cookies, we will not be able to monitor, measure, and improve certain aspects of the performance of the Rakuten Services.
Advertising	These cookies may be set through the Rakuten Services by our advertising partners. They allow us and our advertising partners to measure and report on performance and effectiveness of ads and paid search results that you see or interact with. Subject to your consent, we also use your personal information collected via tracking and cookies with our advertising partners to remove you from targeted advertising campaigns or help us reach people with similar interests on their platforms, so that we can conduct effective customer acquisition advertising and you only see offers that are most relevant to you. If you do not allow Advertising cookies, we will not be able to effectively report on the performance and effectiveness of our ads and search engine marketing or exclude you from subsequent targeted advertising campaigns if you are already a member or interacted with our ads previously. With your consent, we set advertising and marketing cookies from the below third party controllers. You can find information about their use of cookies and their privacy practices, and exercise your privacy rights with them as follows: Google: https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies; https://policies.google.com/privacy Meta:https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policies/cookies; https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy Rokt: https://www.rokt.com/cookie-policy/; https://www.rokt.com/privacy-policy/ Some of our advertising partners may include processors, such as Rakuten Advertising, who will set the RMUID cookie for targeted advertising. When prompted by our cookie banner, you may reject all non-essential cookies or you may make changes to your non-essential cookie preferences at any time by visiting our Cookie Preference Center. If you do not want the Rakuten Services to collect information through the use of any cookies, you can set your web browser to reject cookies, although the use of essential cookies is necessary for us to track your shopping trip in order to obtain and pay you the Cashback that you requested.
